ACCESS Housing’s New FOOD PANTRY
In January 2021, ACCESS Housing started a partnership with the Food Bank of the Rockies resulting in an onsite food pantry at ACCESS Housing! Our ACCESS HousingFood Pantry is open to all family clientele within our network — both those in our shelter program as well as those in Commerce City receiving rental or utilities assistance from us.
“Partner of the Food Bank of the Rockies”
At the start of a family’s stay in one of our onsite shelter units, each family receives a welcome box to stock their kitchen. Along with these food items, ACCESS Housing provides various kitchen items needed to prepare and cook a family meal together, like pots and pans as well as dishes — an important step to a successful transition!
For those participating in our rental and utility assistance program, when on-property submitting and signing off on final documentation prior to receiving final funding, these visitors can also visit our onsite pantry to make their immediate selections based on availability and selections at the time.
These food pantry items are to assist in meeting the supplemental food needs of families across our community network especially in our immediate “core” Commerce City location. Our food items are shelf stable and ACCESS Housing is always looking to increase our partnerships with other food providers as well as receive community donations to keep our pantry stocked.
Typically, it is one food box per month per family, based on availability and selection at the time and is on a first-come first-serve basis.
We also encourage families who are struggling with food insecurity to consider the following options:
- Sign up for SNAP or WIC through Colorado PEAK.
- Food Bank of the Rockies has a directory where you may type in your address to find the closest food distribution to your location. Find food assistance near you.
ACCESS Housing has a small food pantry to meet the supplemental food needs of families in our Family Shelter Program. Our food items are shelf stable and we receive community donations to keep our pantry stocked.
