Family Shelter Program
Our Family Shelter Program is one of only two year-round family shelter programs in Adams County. Our shelter consists of eight 2-bedroom apartment units that keep caregivers and children together during their 9-week stay, providing a safe and stable environment. During this time, ACCESS provides the caregivers with parental coaching and financial planning assistance with the goal of helping the family transition into permanent housing.
Our program also provides weekly housing case management with an assigned ACCESS Case Manager that starts with a comprehensive intake assessment during week 1. Over the course of the following eight weeks, the ACCESS Case Manager assists the family with various resources including but not limited to: creating a realistic budget towards future housing, a more in-depth understanding of their family finances, helping families identify potential job training opportunities as part of each families individual efforts to re-gain stability with the goal of obtaining permanent housing.
All families in the Family Shelter Program are assigned their own ACCESS Housing Case Manager who will provide weekly case management to help each family address any barriers they have towards getting into permanent housing while also providing supporting services in the form of food assistance, clothing vouchers, transportation vouchers, and referrals to the Adams County Workforce and Business Center.
Families who are interested in the program must either be on TANF through Adams County or demonstrate TANF eligibility. Families can be referred to the program either through their Adams County TANF worker or through one of our community providers that serve families in Adams County.
